Things that made me happy at 7 AM

I’m training for this new job… very early in the mornings.  It’s nice to be inspired at 7 AM, even if it is still too early to tell.

I just discovered AU REVOIR SIMONE via I Just Might Explode, and I love everything about them.

Also in love with Cameron‘s papercrafts – amazing.

He’s done paper craft portraits of quite a few of the bloggin’ ladies – and I have to say they are pretty spot-on!  I especially adore the Kaylah one (of The Dainty Squid).

Well, back to work.

Winnspiration

Winnspiration?  Really?  I’m sorry.  I recently stumbled onto these young “full-timers” via ETSY.  They are living out of an old Winnie that they gutted and remodeled themselves, selling beeswax candles molded from antique bottles and the like.  So. Jealous.  The interior is so breathtaking as to squash any doubts anyone might have about the potential awesomeness that is mobile living.  Or at least, it helps, I hope.

Tonight: The Flaming Lips !

Sam’s uncle surprised us with tickets to The Flaming Lips for last night’s show at the Grand Ole Opry.  I was a little worried about seeing such an intense show there – as I usually am – because it’s pew seating and generally a pretty stuffy place.  It’s the kind of place you’d love to see Fiona Apple play When The Pawn… from start to finish.  Somehow they managed to make it feel like you were some place else entirely – the giant ball (Zorb??) even made an appearance somehow!

To be honest I was never really into the Flaming Lips.  There are some songs that I like, but I was never much into the psychedelic stuff personally – but LIVE it was a different story.  It was more like performance art.

I have to admit, the whole hippy LOVE vibe got to me, Sam claims to have even teared up at the end.  :)

We were able to get some amazing shots due to our awesome seats, awesome camera policy, and Sam’s all around photo taking awesomeness.  Made some friends, saw some old ones, all in all, it was quite a good time.

RV Daydream

I finally have a job again – or at least, I’m training for one.  I forgot how mind numbing and draining these things can be.  BUT, I’m going to tough it out because I need money to make all of these awesome things happen.

I need quite a lot of money, in fact.

To sooth my soul and give my brain a rest I’m going to compile a little wishlist for my soon-to-be home.

  • RV(duh!)                           $4,000
  • WVO setup                       $2,500
  • Incinerating Toilet       $2,700
  • Solar                                   $2,000

_________

$11,200

Oh, snap!  That’s quite a bit of “summer savings”.  I’m going to attempt to get an RV loan, and then outfit the RV in all of the latest and greatest green accoutrement.

If you want to sponsor any part of this, I’ll airbrush your portrait on the back.

Just in time for warm weather!

I’m officially living the dream.  No more getting dressed for work, dealing with bosses.  No more… paychecks.  Ok, so almost the dream.  I’ve been planning my exit strategy for a while now, but I have to admit that I left a little prematurely.  At some point there is a line that you need to draw – one that clearly identifies what is and is not something you are willing to do for money.  It was very cinematic at least, I felt like a revolutionary – waking up from the dream to remember that life existed (and still does!) beyond those walls.

I had a couple of days where I alternated between celebratory lounging and panic.  It’s funny how all of those big plans I had seemed to suddenly escape me.  BUT – I made a list.  I WILL remind myself what I really want and I will seize this opportunity in free time to make them happen.  The list is as follows;

  1. Finish book proposal (More on this later)
  2. Open ETSY shop (I have some things in the works)
  3. Start a web-comic (Or something illustration related, preferably published on a schedule online so as to keep my motivated)
  4. Buy an RV (Long term goal, one that involves WVO conversion, solar paneling, and eventual full time living and traveling)

There’s also a book or two I’ve been meaning to read… in a bathtub.  Better get started!
