DIY Antique Book Clutch

I’ve been lusting after these book clutches for some time now, and today at the flea market I picked out the perfect book to transform into my new purse.  I wanted something a little smaller, just to fit the essentials.  The Olympia Le-Tan clutches are beautifully embroidered, but at $1,330.00 I just don’t think I can afford it right now… or ever.

I’m not a huge fan of the Kate Spade version, and at $300 – still too steep for me.  I made my clutch in an afternoon, out of materials I had lying around the house.

Total cost: approx. $7.00.

How to DIY Jackpot – Park & Cube

Park and Cube might just be my new favorite blog.  I have a short list of things to whip up before spring hits, and these amazing tutorials are very high on it.

Goodbye untucked shirt tails, hello wedgies!

I know what I’m doing tomorrow – after yoga, a bike ride, and soaking up as much sun as possible.  This tutorial via OutsaPop Trashion is … almost on the top of my to do list.

Skirt update

Finally took some pictures of the skirt attempts.  I’m glad I started with the less-than-awesome fabrics, because there were many less-than-awesome skirts made.  Skirts and dresses and weird drapey numbers that doubled as IQ tests when dressing yourself.

I have to say, I am pretty pleased with the results of my self-lessons.  Now I can move on to something a little more fitted, maybe.  After all, I bought a dress form.  DOH!   Impulse buy.  Now I have no choice but to become a full fledged seamstress, because I’m so cheap.  I think I might do a ‘how-to’ of sorts in a few days, considering how many how-to’s I had to consult to get all of the bits of pieces of info I needed.  I can show you how to hem a circle skirt without feeling to the need to do violence to things!  YAY!

Now I just need it to be spring so I can actually wear them.

Oh, the possibilities

I have the next two days off work – and a stock pile of awesome fabric and sketches.  I really want to get a screenprinting area set up in our shed so that I can start printing my own fabric.  Soon, soon.

SENSORY OVERLOAD

I’ve been binging on designer dresses all day – looking, not buying of course.  I’ve been overcome with the feeling that I need to turn this pile of fabric into something you can rock down the street.  I’ll post some progress later in the week…

P.S. Why didn’t anyone ever tell me Vivienne Westwood was so amazing?  I’m having a girl moment.
